Purpose
This anatomical veterinary illustration of the superficial musculature of the equine hindquarters was created to be utilized within a powerpoint presentation for equine veterinary students who were studying various gait abnormalities in the hind limb of the horse. The posterior view allows the viewer to understand and appreciate the positioning, anatomy and musculature involved in the muscle disorder called fibrotic myopathy, which is caused by severe scarring or ossification in the semitendinosus muscle or biceps femoris muscles.
Superficial musculature shown:
- Semitendinosus muscle
- Biceps femoris muscle
